Notes from the Chair

Dear SIGDOC Member,

Is it 2007 already?! Well yes it is, and we're ready for it. Our 2007 conference is currently in the Call for Papers stage of development and will be held in El Paso, Texas, October 22nd to 24th, 2007. David Novick is the General Conference Chair and Clay Spinuzzi is the Program Chair and planning for a stellar event is already well underway. The Call for Papers is available at http://www.sigdoc2007.org. Once again, the submission deadline for papers is June 1st, 2007, so pencil it in!

As well, since the ACM holds elections every two years for Executive Board positions of all its Special Interest Groups (SIGs), the ACM SIGDOC Elections will be held this upcoming Spring 2007. You should be receiving a postcard in the mail from ACM headquarters listing the attached slate of candidates for the elected officers of the SIGDOC Board. We've got a terrific list of candidates running for the Executive Board positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. The Candidate List is as follows:

ACM SIGDOC Election Candidate List, 2007-2009

Chair:
Brad Mehlenbacher
Gloria Reece
John Stamey

Vice-Chair:
Robert Pierce
Grant Hogarth

Secretary/Treasurer:
Ashley Williams
Shaun Slattery

For more information on the elections process, see http://www.acm.org/sigs/elections. Special thanks goes to Kathy Haramundanis for serving as our Nominations Chair for the SIGDOC election.

Please pass on the call for papers for next year's conference and do consider joining us in sunny El Paso!

And, in the meantime…

Happy Spring all,

Brad Mehlenbacher
