SIGDOC's Online Presence
As SIGDOC's Information Director, I am pleased to share here some recent achievements in SIGDOC's ongoing efforts to expand our online presence. Through the efforts profiled below, SIGDOC aims to enable an interactive membership that's engaging, valuable, and useful for members, that establishes connections across the various communities that comprise SIGDOC, and that provides multiple venues for furthering and enriching conversations that start at our annual conference, and for generating new conversations.
The more folks who engage and contribute to SIGDOC's online presences, the more vibrant SIGDOC becomes and the better able to further the professions of its practitioners and the research and scholarship of its academics. Each different venue listed below offers an opportunity for SIGDOC members to ask questions and post answers to SIGDOC-related topics; to share relevant research, articles, websites, and other resources; to post job openings; and to look for jobs, etc.

LinkedIn offers SIGDOC a space to post discussions, jobs, news items, etc., and an online space for meeting and connecting with experts, peers, and students in SIGDOC-related fields. As of this writing, SIGDOC currently has 60 LinkedIn members connected.

SIGDOC is using Twitter to post SIGDOC-related announcements and items of interest to members. For example, you can go to Twitter to find the latest details about any changes or updates to the SIGDOC conference (#SIGDOC09). As of this writing, SIGDOC has 36 followers on Twitter.

Facebook offers SIGDOC a space to post announcements, news items, photos, videos, etc. Like LinkedIn, it's an online space for meeting and connecting with experts, peers, and students in SIGDOC-related fields. As of this writing, SIGDOC currently has 46 Facebook members connected.

SIGDOC's presence on Wikipedia promotes the SIG's mission, description, Board, Awards, and annual conference. All SIGDOC members are encouraged to edit and add content to SIGDOC's Wikipedia page.

Recently, SIGDOC implemented a change to its website in order to enhance the value provided to members: The SIGDOC newsletter is now available only to members and requires a log-in using your ACM-assigned user name and password.
