ABSTRACT:

This paper presents the results of an empirical research study that is currently in progress on how people search for information using Palm handheld computers, also known as personal digital assistants (PDA). The study explores how effectively people can retrieve information on a PDA to address a problem-solving situation. It also will identify the major factors uncovered by the research as inhibiting or supporting the retrieval of information on a PDA. Based on the data analysis, we will identify design implications for web pages that support efficient information retrieval.
